What 'build in public' actually means

It's not posting selfies. It's posting the unfiltered numbers and the unfiltered decisions. Here's the rule I use.

The cheap version

"Build in public" has degraded into selfies + Notion screenshots + #buildinpublic + zero substance.

The cheap version is performance. The version that compounds is honest.

The rule

The rule I use: post things that would be uncomfortable to read back in 12 months if they didn't work.

The first one teaches readers something even if I fail. The second one teaches them nothing.

Why this matters for Studio

Studio's marketing is built on this. We post:

We don't post the win loops without context. We don't post the "$X MRR in Y days" milestones unless we can break down what we'd do differently.

Build-in-public is an audit trail of decisions. If your audit trail is just dopamine hits, you're not building, you're broadcasting.

Like this thinking? Studio is built on it.
